I’m Kelly Nash and my blog is Lipstick & Ink. My blog is centered around the young professional woman. It’s for the woman who wants to achieve greatness in her career and her life. The woman who wants to break the glass ceiling. The woman who knows when to speak up for herself. The woman who wants to be mindful of her mental and physical health. The woman who wants to see and travel the world.
When did you start blogging and what inspired you to start you blog?
I officially started blogging in January of this year and launched Lipstick & Ink
near the end of February. Since being married last September and with wedding planning no longer taking up all my time, I realized something in my life was missing. I’d come home from work and feel fulfilled with my job, but not necessarily with my life. I constantly feel like I have to be doing something productive so sitting on the couch and watching TV after work just wasn’t cutting it for me. I was lacking that creative passion a lot of people crave. I realized on a random Saturday in January that I hadn’t written much the last few years – because, life – and that I wanted to get back to my roots of writing. I’ve always loved to write – I’d write short stories and poem as a child, I wrote lifestyle and sport articles for my high school newspaper and I even started a few versions of a blog throughout college. It is my passion and it’s something I really love to do.
What is your favorite blog post that you have written?
I have two. One of the first posts I launched my blog with was how to land a promotion. I loved writing that post because I felt like I had so many good nuggets to share that people could really take and apply to their own careers. The second was about why my husband and I are waiting to have children. I thought it was important to share that as children become more of a constant topic as I turn 30 this year. That post received so much positive feedback and I was ecstatic to see so many people who were able to relate to what I was writing about.
What do you love about blogging?
I have seriously enjoyed every second of blogging since I decided to launch my website. I love being able to get my thoughts and advice out there that I’ve been holding onto for years. Lipstick & Ink is very much about writing relatable topics and helping
others achieve their idea of greatness. I truly aim to inspire in every post I put forth. It’s an amazing feeling.
What are some brands that you have worked with, or some brands that you would love to work with?
Because I am so new to the blogging world, I haven’t worked with any brands yet, but I already have a few opportunities in the works. I want to make sure I am choosing brands that I truly believe in to remain authentic in who I am.
