Meet the Member: The Fashionable Fox

Hi! My name is Laura Fox and I am a 20-something fashionista residing in the suburbs of Chicago. My blog, The Fashionable Fox, is a fashion and lifestyle blog with a focus on budget-friendly outfit inspiration. If you are searching for feel-good style advice, pull up a seat, grab a donut and stay a while!

When did you start blogging and what inspired you to start you blog?

Believe it or not, I grew up with zero interest in fashion and lived in basketball uniforms and baggy jeans (before boyfriend jeans were cool!). I spent more time making my Barbies look glamorous than myself. But as years passed and my doll collection began to retire, I decided to be selfish and start dressing myself for a change. As I started to explore more thrift stores and clearance racks with my mom, and learn all the important stuff about brands, styles and fashion in general, I knew there was a whole world out there for me to discover. In September of 2013, The Fashionable Fox blog was born as a way to record my findings and provide style advice for those on a budget.

What is your favorite blog post that you have written?

It’s hard to choose! But I really loved writing about two of my favorite local “hidden gems” that I love to visit. I partnered with Turo on that post to talk about a restaurant and a resale shop in Morris, Illinois that I frequently visit and adore. It was also one of my first big partnerships with a brand, so it
was all around an exciting piece to write! You can read the post here.

What do you love about blogging?

I love blogging because it’s a creative outlet to share
my feelings, ideas and advice. There are so many fashion bloggers out there, which is
amazing to see, but I love my “budget-friendly” niche because it’s not represented enough. There are so many ways to keep up with the latest trends while staying true to
your personal style without draining your wallet. I love knowing that through my blog, I
can be a resource to my audience and inspire them to shop smarter. I also love putting
together outfits for my readers! When someone tells me “I need to go shopping with
you!” or “You find the best stuff!,” I feel such a sense of accomplishment knowing I’m
inspiring them.

What are some brands that you have worked with, or some brands that you would love to work with?

I have worked primarily with Amazing Goodwill, which is the brand of Goodwill stores in the Midwest. I write guest blog posts for their website. I’ve also worked with Turo, Warby Parker, Dia & Co, Arhaus and Ettika. I would die if I ever got to work with Target or Old Navy- those are two brands I adore and swear by. I would also LOVE to do the T.J. Maxx under $50 Instagram challenge. Dream big, right?
