Meet the Member: A Juxtaposed Mind

Hello! My name is Dulce Arroyo and I’m the writer and creator of the lifestyle blog, A Juxtaposed Mind. As a Chicago native, I’m in love with my city, so my blog usually includes my adventures of finding dope spots to eat or vibe at, as well as writers, local/popular musicians and artists that I’m also obsessed with. I also like to include any beauty products/fashion trends that I’m loving at the moment—especially if they are created by fellow Chicagoans! True to its name, the posts you’ll find on A Juxtaposed Mind can range from any raves about places/people/products, to more heartfelt and thoughtful pieces… it just depends on what’s on my mind!

When did you start blogging and what inspired you to start your blog?

I started blogging in January 2016. I initially did it to share my favorite moments in life as a 20-something-year-old living in Chicago, and then it became a way for me to share lessons and experiences that I went through in hopes that I could connect with others. My goal now for the blog is to make sure it’s a good mix of both.

What is your favorite blog post that you have written?

One of my most viewed posts is “A Late September Reflection”, a post in which I reflect on life as a nearly-26-year-old. I remember writing it, too; I was in a state of total peace, honesty, and self-acceptance. Every time I read it, I feel myself chasing away my anxieties and focusing back on what’s really important. I hope that others feel the same way when they read that kind of post by me.

What do you love about blogging?

I love how blogging can help you connect with others and learn about new places and people, both locally and all over the world. When I meet the bloggers that I follow on social media in person, it’s so much easier to talk to them because we’ve already established an online friendship and know a lot about each other already. Blogging is also amazing because it helps you step out of your comfort zone to be able to reach out to people and network—which is something that I strongly believe in if you want to get ahead in life.

What are some brands that you have worked with, or some brands that you would love to work with?

I’ve worked with Latino Fashion Week and Cavalia for their Odysseo production. Product-wise, I’m currently working with Parcel as an ambassador, and I’m helping promote AriRose Body Care because I am in LOVE with her soaps/skin frosting! I would also love to work with Nike and Lululemon (basically all of my workout gear comes from either brand), Madewell, Zappos, Target and Wayfair.
