Hi, I’m Brittney! I’m a freelance virtual assistant based in Chicago and the owner of the lifestyle and travel blog My Cultural Curiosity. The intention of my blog is to create honest and resourceful information for travelers who are dreaming, planning or researching their next travel destination. I’m not traveling full time so the lifestyle part of the blog is dedicated to my life here in the windy city and I share those experiences on the blog through storytelling and photography
When did you start blogging and what inspired you to start you blog?
I started blogging just a few short months ago and I absolutely love it. My personality is pretty curious by nature and I’ve always been intrigued by other cultures. Hence the name. 😉 Travel has greatly impacted my life, it has taught me patience, acceptance and gratitude. It’s also given me an insane amount of wanderlust which I’m positive I’ll never get over. My goal is to ignite that same spark within others. I want people to fall in love with travel and everything that goes along with it.
What is your favorite blog post that you have written?
That’s a toughie but I think I’d have to go with my post about traveling to Japan for first timers. I travelled there last summer with my husband and it totally rocked our worlds! The U.S. and Japan are two very different countries and you instantly feel it the moment you arrive. You can read about it here!
What do you love about blogging?
What I love about blogging is the creative freedom and flexibility it brings. I like to have the option to work from home, a hotel lounge or a coffee shop. This may sound crazy but I actually liked writing papers in college, blogging is sort of like that but better because I get to decide on the topic and the deadline. 😉 I’ll admit it’s not always easy to blog, it requires an enormous amount of motivation and self discipline. I’m getting better at working on accountability and recognizing there is a great blogging community in Chicago I can connect with when things get bumpy.
What are some brands that you have worked with, or some brands that you would love to work with?
I would love to have the opportunity to work with brands such as Bangtel, The Palmer House, SPG, Southwest and ANA airlines.
