Happy Friday, Windy City Bloggers! I’m Paige – the girl behind Tomatoes for Cucumbers. My blog is a food-centric lifestyle blog where I share about the events of my life, recipes I love, and reviews of the amazing restaurants I’ve visited here in
Chicago. I am so excited to be writing today’s Friday Five post as I write one of these posts every Friday on my personal blog as well. Stop on by to check it out!
This post was especially fun to write because it gave me the chance to check out several other fabulous Chicago bloggers and get to know them better through their posts. Here are five of my favorite posts from this week:
As I’m sure any blogger can attest to, it’s common to experience writer’s block from time to time. There are times when I have posts scheduled for weeks in advance and others when the content doesn’t flow as easily. Erin from Erin’s Inside Job shared some great tips this week on How To Beat Writer’s Block.
Last Friday, Kit from The Kittchen put together a great list of Chicago Food Festivals. Neighborhood festivals
are one of my favorite things about summer in Chicago and Kit’s post has me looking forward to the next few months! I already have my tickets to the Windy City Smokeout and am looking forward to several others too. Side note: Can you believe it is already May 1st??
A couple months ago I hopped on the “zoodle” train and have been hooked ever since. Being the pasta lover that I am, using my veggie spiralizer in place of noodles has been a good way to cut back on carbs when cooking at home. This week, Erica from Everything Erica shared a delicious recipe for Zucchini Noodle Caprese “Pasta” which I cannot wait to try!
A recent trend in restaurants seems to be the farm-to-table concept where chefs are constantly rotating their menu by cooking with ingredients that are in season. At home, I also get inspired to cook seasonally. Christine from Life With a Side of Coffee provided a great list of produce that is currently in season for spring. She shared how to navigate spring produce and provided some delicious sounding recipes to make with these ingredients. The strawberry mango salsa looks amazing!
As someone who has switched to an all-natural line of skincare products (hello Arbonne!) in recent years, I have really been trying to establish a healthy skincare regimen because let’s be honest I’m not getting any younger. Jess from The Golden Girl Blog shared 9 Major Skincare Mistakes You Might Be Making. Who knew you needed to remove your makeup BEOFRE washing your face? I definitely found this list helpful for what not to do.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the warmer weather we are supposed to have! If you are looking for something to do, the Green City Market in Lincoln Park officially opens for outdoor season on Saturday. I know I’m looking forward to a summer of Farmer’s Market Saturdays.
