Today we are meeting Jessica Savage Jenzen of SavageSentiments. She strives to share attainable food, entertaining and style tips to help women live a well-balanced, inspired and beautiful life. She covers food joyfully, style sensibly and share guides to make entertaining easy.
When did you start blogging and what inspired you to start your blog?
I started my blog in April of 2018 after years and years of playing with the idea. Writing is one of my favorite hobbies and something I’ve been passionate about since I was a young girl. I was inspired to create a space for my stories and love of food, entertaining and style after realizing I loved posting about food and cheeseboards and pretty dresses – I wanted to create a separate space where I could elaborate on those passions beyond my personal accounts. I’ve also always been obsessed with magazines and brands, so I thought I would go ahead and make my own!
What is your favorite blog post that you have written?
One of my favorite posts was a personal one I wrote a few weeks before I got married to Ben, you can find it here. My ultimate goal with my blog is to support women to have the confidence to live a beautiful life, inside and out. Whether that’s trying out a new recipe even though you think you’re a lousy cook or pairing a blouse with a great pair of booties to feel good about what you’re wearing for a big meeting or trying out a new workout class that intimidates you, you can do it and you can do it with confidence.
What do you love about blogging?
I feel like it is a constant challenge to myself, and only I have the power to make it better and make it more helpful for my readers. While I have certainly learned that people are craving utility and content they can take action on, I really want them to feel inspired to live their life confidently. Of course, it’s easy to feel like you’re constantly competing with others in an incredibly crowded environment, but if I remember that this is my space to be creative, make new connections, create a consistent conversation for my readers then I am doing something right. And every time I post something new, I feel good knowing I am posting more to my story and it’s fun sharing that with others.
What are some brands that you have worked with, or some brands that you would love to work with?
I am still relatively new and have yet to work with any brands! I would love to work with a local shop or restaurant as much as I would love to work with a brand like Express, Sam Edelman or Nordstrom. I strive to be as authentic as possible, so I know for a fact that I would only partner with a brand I’m passionate about.
