TALL Blessings and happy Friday Windy City bloggers. Can you believe it? We are almost a month into the new year. Time really does fly when you’re having fun or like me trying to juggle multiple things like a demanding career and a passion project turned blog and business. My name is J. Enovy, though some people call me ‘J’. I’m certain it’s because Enovy (Eh-No-Vee) is soooo easy to pronounce. Lol. I am the founder of TALL District, an online fashion and lifestyle resource for tall men, women, and youth.
I am excited to share today’s ‘Friday Five’, a list intended to inspire, encourage, and entice.
It’s Friday, We made it so let’s treat ourselves to a something sweet.
To say I have a sweet tooth is an understatement. I literally baked buttery vegan banana bread at 10:00 p.m. last night. My love for baking is why I loved Lindsey’s Matcha Strawberry Thumbprint cookies post from this week. It looks delicious and I can’t wait to try the recipe. Lindsey doesn’t know it, but we may be sweet soul sisters given our love of baking and dancing. Click here for more of Lindsey’s sweet treats.
Now that you’ve taken care of your sweet tooth, let’s talk about what it takes to take care of you.
There is something healing and beautiful about showing our true selves and allowing others to see who we really are, flaws and all. This week Erin shared great tips on “How to Know if You Need Professional Help.” Sometimes it’s hard to tell whether how you feel is simply stress or if there is more to it. If you have considered or are considering seeking professional help to deal with the pressures of life Erin’s list can help you come to a conclusion about your next step. Someone once told me that if you pray for change you’ll find that the change often happens with you first. So if it feels like life keeps chipping away at you Erin’s list of things may help you in your search for healing and inner peace. Thanks, Erin for being so transparent with your readers and for providing such great advice.
Now that we’ve done a bit of soul-searching Julie Hightower takes us on a Spring sole search you’ll enjoy.
A Better Day with Julie is one of my favorite blogs. Founder, Julie Hightower, has great sense of style and knows where to find the best that Chicago has to offer. This week Julie sat down with Kelly Monreal to share Spring 2017 shoe trends. One of my favorite 2017 trends is the 70’s shoe fringe. I also love that Julie and Kelly tackled a question I have asked myself ‘Can we wear suede all year’. Head to A Better Day with Julie for the answer.
Now that you know what shoes to buy for Spring let Christine share tips on how to look good in them even if you travel a lot for work and don’t have access to a gym.
Christine, the founder of Lattes, Life and Luggage shares tips on how to get your workout in while traveling. The tips are practical and lead more exploration and socializing. I travel a lot for work, 70-80% travel, so I love the idea of doing a little pre-work and finding a studio ahead of time. I may even try to walk a little more, maybe not everywhere, but more places than normal.
As bloggers, especially newer bloggers, it can be a bit of a challenge when it comes to creating a digital footprint and marketing plan. It can also prove to be challenging when you are trying to communicate your life’s work on one page in the form of a resume.
Marcie Writes is a great blog. She provides very useful tips on resumes for writers and her twitter is filled with great resources. One of her tweets this week was a link to Your Chic Geek by Kim George’s recent post titled ‘7 Powerful WordPress Themes for Bloggers and Digital Marketers.’ It was a helpful set of suggestions, suggestions I wish I had when creating TALL District.
I hope each of you enjoyed today’s Friday Five for Windy City Bloggers.
TALL Blessings,
